There is nothing we love more than seeing Auburn graduates doing incredible things with their degrees. After graduating Magna Cum Laude with an undergraduate degree in Industrial Design, Josh Hanson ’14 took off to Charlotte, NC to work for Electrolux Major Appliances. What started off as a senior internship quickly turned into a full-time job.
Hanson is part of a group that is responsible for developing the concepts and products that we will likely be purchasing in the next 2-10 years. A lot of thinking, sketching, and computer modeling is required to design the appliances that we keep in our kitchens and laundry rooms.
“Sometimes being a good industrial designer is more about asking the right questions than having the best idea,” Hanson said. “I ask a lot of questions, draw on everything that I own, and I try to maintain a safe consumption of espresso.”
In his two years at the company, he has gotten to travel across the continent and has even landed himself a promotion. Hanson admits that he could not have made any of these accomplishments without the help of the Industrial Design faculty at Auburn.
“My time at Auburn was the best decision that I’ve ever made. It has allowed me to comfortably start my life and to see the world with larger eyes.”
