Dick Ingwersen ‘70

Dick Ingwersen ’70 is the founder of Atlanta-based certified public accounting firm of Gifford, Hillegass and Ingwersen (GH&I) and co-founder of Ingwersen & Taylor law firm.

Dick Ingwersen graduating with a bachelor’s in business management and later earned a law degree from Emory Law School, before founding the certified public accounting firm Gifford, Hillegass and Ingwersen (GH&I). Under his leadership, GH&I became one of the top local CPA firms in Atlanta; after 33 years, he was instrumental in completing a merger with Warren Averett, LLC, the fifth largest accounting firm in the Southeast. Ingwersen also co-founded Ingwersen & Taylor law firm.

He currently serves on the board of directors for the YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta, where he has been named Volunteer of the Year three times. He also serves on the advisory council for the AU School of Accountancy and was the recipient of the 2008 Outstanding Alumni award.

A former defensive end for the Auburn Tigers under Shug Jordan in the late 1960s, Ingwersen received the Walter Gilbert Award in 2017, an award recognizing former athletes who distinguished themselves after graduation.
