Graduation approaching… I’ll audition to be a talk show host!

Surrounding yourself with people who build you up and encourage you to go for your dreams is crucial in this life. I have been fortunate enough to meet such individuals everywhere I turn especially here at Auburn University.

As a senior graduating in August, I am getting more out of my final semester than I could dream by being an intern at the Auburn Alumni Association through the Communications Department. Being a Communication major and an English Technical and Professional Communication minor, I have an interest in all forms of communication.

It comes at no shock to many that it has always been a dream of mine to be a talk show host. Luckily an opportunity has arrived and I am jumping at the seams to be apart of it! Oprah is teaming up with Mark Burnett, the producer of the Apprentice and Survivor, in the search for the next TV star. Participants are to choose from such categories as health and wellbeing, cooking, wildcard, interior design/fashion or the traditional talk show. Well, I am going with the traditional talk show because I want to talk about it all and have fun along the way! There are two ways to enter the competition and you better bet your bottom dollar that I am going to do both! The first entry was by uploading a short video to the Oprah website where viewers can vote until their fingers fall off because there is no limit to how many times you can vote.

I had a blast making the video and am so thankful for all my friends who helped me with the filming. We even caught a few bloopers in the process.

Next weekend I am headed to the open casting call in Atlanta for the second opportunity. I will keep you all posted on that as well. Please spread the word and visit the actual video to hear my ideas and to VOTE, VOTE, VOTE for a fellow Auburn University (soon-to-be) alumni trying to reach her dream. Thank you and WAR EAGLE!
