I have been a part of Tiger Eyes Flag Line in Auburn University Marching Band for five years. This year was one of the best years that I will never forget. The entire band got to go to Glendale, Arizona for the big game between Auburn Tigers and Oregon Ducks on January 10th, 2011. It took two charter planes to fly the whole band, and once we got there, eight buses were waiting on us. The weather in Arizona was absolutely beautiful; the temperature was in the mid 60’s during the day and no humidity! I loved seeing all the palm trees and gigantic cacti that we don’t normally see on the Plains.
We stayed in Arizona for four days participating many pep rallies and festivities such as Scottsdale Waterfront pep rally, Zoolights pep rally, small pep rallies around the stadium before marching in, and the AUMB Senior Banquet. There were so many Auburn family in the west coast last week out numbering the Oregon fans according to the media. At Scottsdale Waterfront pep rally, there were so many Auburn fans in the location that the marching band could barely fit. The officials had to push some people back to make room for the marching band and let us do what we do. 🙂 This pep rally was one of my most favorite ones I have performed in.
I enjoyed every minute of practicing for my last Pre-game Show and my last Half-time show on this trip. I have had so much fun, make life-long friends, and got to go to many different stadiums being a part of the AUMB family. It is a lifetime experience that I will treasure for the rest of my life! Of course, my most favorite part was the bowl game. I believe in Auburn and love it! War Eagle! 14-0!
