FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT

IN ITS ONGOING QUEST to connect and engage with the diverse Auburn Family, last year the Auburn Alumni Association created the Women’s Initiative to equip women with the tools to manage their personal lives, skills to excel in their careers, confidence to lead and the courage to support each other through meaningful programs.

The overwhelming success of last year’s inaugural efforts inspired a dedicated group of volunteers to continue the momentum and offer a one-day summit on March 18. Participants will be treated to a keynote address from Michelle McKenna ’87, former CXO of the NFL, where she has served for the past decade. Other sessions will feature a variety of alumnae who will share their perspectives about empowerment; youthful inspiration; health, wellness and mindfulness and what it’s like to be your own CEO. One of the unique aspects of this format will be the opportunity for current students to connect and learn from Auburn women. Visit alumni.auburn.edu/women to learn more about the association’s programs and how you can get involved.

Auburn women continue to make incredible contributions to our university and their respective communities. Our numbers are
impressive, accounting for 46.5% of the 248,093 living alumni. We are leaders in a variety of professions, serve our communities
as philanthropists and volunteers and help shape the next generation of the Auburn Family. In addition to alumni, 50% of our currently enrolled students are women.

One of the most inspiring Auburn women I’ve had the pleasure of meeting is Susie McGoogan Gogue. She has faithfully served two terms as first lady and will be sorely missed as she and Jay retire for the second time. Susie is respected among her peers throughout the country and often serves as a mentor to other first spouses. She deserves our gratitude for her gracious hospitality and offering a welcoming spirit to the Auburn Family. Thank you to Jay and Susie Gogue for the special legacy they have created for our beloved Auburn.

Enjoy your spring and I hope our paths will cross at one of the Auburn Alumni Association-sponsored events throughout
the country.

War Eagle Always!
