Charles Heaton, also known as the “Auburn Santa,” was born in Georgiana, Ala. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Montgomery, Ala. and earned a degree in industrial engineering from Auburn University. He is survived by the love of his life, Joellynn; son, Charles E. (Chuck) Heaton Jr. ’88 and wife, Debby; daughter, Jill Thomas ’90 and husband, Mark; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
