Growing up in Alabama with limited financial means and as the first person on either side of my family to go to college, an engineering degree from Auburn provided me a ticket for career success.

Graduating in December 1981 and starting as a nuclear power plant engineer for Alabama Power in January 1982, nearly 36 years later I am one of 28 female CEOs of an S&P 500 company — American Water Works, Inc., headquartered in Voorhees, NJ. I will always be thankful for the amazing education and experiences that I received at Auburn that set me on this track. War Eagle!
